All the names from the Pilkington Roll Of Honour have been added - it is not stated whether there is a permanant memorial within the Pilkingtons complex (perhaps someone who knows could inform me).

After a long delay, D3 has been uploaded.

01/07/2009

The images have now been made smaller to speed up viewing, and to ensure the image can fit on the page.

16/06/2009

D2 has now been uploaded.

02/06/2009

D1 has now been uploaded. The search engine used to research the soldiers is still not back on line, so I have to use an alternative which - for wantof a better word - is slow!

The issues with the actual site appear to have been resolved soon after they were reported - fingers crossed!

23/05/2009

As you may know, our hosts UK2 are having some difficulties tracing a fault on their servers - this means we are experiencing an intermittent service at the moment - I have not been informed as to when it may be resolved, so if you try the site and get an 'INTERNAL SERVER ERROR', bear with us.

Even more good news is the fact that one of the search engines I use for the research of the Soldiers is also down, and has been for several days, this means that the Soldier research has come to a full stop, normal service will (hopefully) be resumed soon!

07/05/2009

Panel C7 and C8 have now been uploaded - (up to and including Hewitt R).The next panel will be commenced next week.

06/05/2009

Panel C5 and C6 have now been uploaded - (up to and including Hammond J)

01/05/2009

Panel C3 and C4 have now been uploaded.

30/04/2009

Panel C2 has now been uploaded.

29/04/2009

Panel C1 has now been uploaded. I have developed a numbering system for the panels to make it easier to ensure I don't miss anyone out, and will from now on be uploading them in smaller chunks. The numbering is thus:

Panel (A - J) denoting the panels 1 to 10
Column (1-8) deontes which column the soldier is in
The final Number (1 to 45 or more) denotes how far down the colum he is)

So today I have loaded the 1st column of the 3rd panel. It means I can get the names onto the website more quickly.

I'll be taking a break for a couple of days before I tackle the next column.

27/04/2009

Panel 2 has now been uploaded.

25/04/2009

I  am currently working on the second panel, and will hopefuly have it uploaded by next Wednesday. I have changed the results from the database so they include an 'Additional Information' section - this will be for information supplied by yourselves (many thanks to Olga Caddock nee Thompson for supplying information regarding her relative).

Could I ask that information about your relatives is only forwarded when their name is available on this site - I'm having trouble keeping track of the 2500 plus names as it is!

22/04/2009

I  have managed to get all the records from THE FIRST PANEL ONLY uploaded onto the database. Ihave had to delete the complete list asthere will be over 2500 to display which woould be almost impossible to search through. I have however managed to enable several searches such as :-

by Surname
by Serial Number

Hopefully this will enable you to search for possible relatives!

This was only the first panel and contained only around 300 names - the research for this panel took almost three weeks to complete so you can see it is a long slow process. I will add the other panels in due course, though please be aware that it is going to take some time.

22/04/2009

I  have started to enter the Soldiers on the database for the St Helens site - but please bear with me as it is a long slow process.

21/04/2009

ALL data has now been entered on the Golborne Roll Of Honour Website, please take a look and see if thats the type of thing you wnat to see on this website for the Soldiers Of St Helens.

21/04/2009

Please check out 'Golborne Roll Of Honour' in our links page, as this is the site I have been trialing ideas for the St Helens Roll Of Honour part of this site. Please note however that you WILL need javascript turned on in order to search the database, and see the complete details of the database. The rest of the soldiers will be uploaded over the next few days.

17/04/2009

New link added to 'Burtonwood Roll Of Honour' - the men behind the names of the villages War Memorial.

13/04/09

Uploading of St Helens Soldiers is likely to be delayed due to being hospitalised on Good Friday.

13/04/09
